Clear aligners for straighter teeth

Want a straighter smile without the look of metal braces? Clear aligners gently and gradually move your teeth into place, giving you a comfortable, discreet way to get the smile you want.

What are clear aligners?

Clear aligners are a series of transparent, custom-made trays that fit snugly over your teeth and gradually shift them into better alignment. Made from smooth, BPA-free plastic, they are practically invisible, which makes them popular with adults and teenagers who want discreet treatment.

Benefits of clear aligners

  • Discreet: nearly invisible, so you can straighten your teeth without drawing attention
  • Comfortable: smooth plastic is much less likely to irritate your gums and cheeks than braces
  • Removable: take them out to eat, drink, brush and floss, which makes oral hygiene easier
  • Fewer visits: treatment usually needs fewer appointments than traditional braces

How clear aligners work

  1. Consultation: we take digital impressions or 3D scans of your teeth and create a personalised treatment plan
  2. Custom aligners: a series of aligners is designed to move your teeth into place step by step
  3. Wearing your aligners: you wear each set for 20 to 22 hours a day, moving to the next set every one to two weeks
  4. Monitoring progress: regular check-ups make sure treatment stays on track
  5. Your new smile: at the end of treatment you have a straighter, more confident smile

Are clear aligners right for you?

Clear aligners work well for mild to moderate problems such as:

  • Crooked or crowded teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Minor bite problems such as an overbite or underbite

For more complex cases, traditional braces may still be the better choice. We will assess your teeth and recommend the best option.

Keeping your results

Once treatment is finished you'll wear a retainer, usually at night, to stop your teeth moving back. We'll show you how to look after it.

Common questions

How long does treatment take?+
Simple cases can finish in around six months. More involved cases commonly take twelve to eighteen months. We give you an estimate after the planning scan.
Are they painful?+
Each new tray feels tight and your teeth may ache for a day or two, which is the sensation of them moving. It settles quickly and most people find it far more comfortable than braces.
Can people tell I am wearing them?+
Rarely at conversational distance. Attachments, small tooth-coloured bumps that help grip the trays, are sometimes needed and are slightly more visible.
